Ordered the Chicken Pho and was pleasantly surprised by the texture and taste of the pho.Big portions as well, $13 for the pho and it’s a decently sized serving, feels like the chicken pho can feed 2 people
Not my kind of restaurant. Don't really understand the hype about this place. Kinda bland.
Service was quick and friendly. The decor is lively. The food was prepared in a timely manner. The pho was delicious. Broth was a perfect balance, not oily but not bland. The noodles had been prepared recently and held together. The beef cuts are on point the beef ball is its standard spongy self. The spring rolls are different than usual. The shape is strange but makes sense once you bit into it. A quick cook keeps them less greasy and you can enjoy the contents.Overall, this will be my new stop and advise anyone who likes Pho to give it a shot.
Delicious Vietnamese comfort food! I have been coming here regularly for quite a few years since before they moved to this newer location! The new updates give it a very authentic and homey atmosphere. Come here for the pho as well as the creative northern style dishes especially the la lot wrapped beef, pork, crab meat spring rolls and deep fried rice cakes. They have also updated their offerings to include a vegetarian menu and family style meals ( weekends only).
Best Vietnamese food I have ever experienced in Vancouver, bar none! The proprietors are beyond nice and incredibly friendly. Many of the recipes at the restaurant have been passed down from their grandparents. Doesn't get much more authentic than that. :)Good news, as of July 2017!Mr Red Cafe has moved across the street and now has a bigger kitchen, which has allowed them to expand their menu to the same level as their Broadway location!
Always a good experience when I come here to dine. It's always busy, and the dishes tastes amazing. The service is quick and the waitresses are friendly.
Interesting decor and nice atmosphere. Food is decent. Not bad not amazing.
One of the rare viet restaurant with a special menu. Yummy dishes with lots of selection. Noodles were yummy. I don't know what's authentic pho but this one is quite good. Flavourful soup base and tender beef. Seating is comfy and atmosphere is quite quiet. Good for dates even. Free parking om Hastings.
The #16 noodle soup was tasty, the server was friendly, and the restaurant was clean and comfortable. I'll be back!
The place was comfortable and the food was decent but not amazing. The time you made your order and the food served not too bad. I had chicken lemongrass which are common in Vietnamese restaurants. It wasn't superb but not disappointing. Their spring roll a bit turndown my opinion. They could do better.
The spring rolls are the best in town! Food presentation is also very nice. The ambiance of the restaurant is lovely and authentic.
Hands down one of my favourite Vietnamese restaurants in Vancouver. The flavours and the quality are unmatched by most places in Vancouver at this price. I got to visit Vietnam last year and I have to say I don't taste a big difference with this restaurant, the variety available is great. Service is great keep up the good work. Having two locations is great just please don't over expand, it would be your downfall. Btw your Bánh Mi are amazing 😍
Small restaurant with small tables. Service was good and relatively quick. Restaurant is clean and feel intimate. Northern vietnamese style. Menu has good selections. Now food, soup were okey. I had better. Nothing to write home about. Soup came out hot, but a bit salty. Other dishes we ordered were average. Overall, this restaurant shows a bit different than your regular vietnamese restaurant. Cleaner and nicer decorated. Food is just average. Prices definitely higher than your regular pho places in the city.
Excellent vietnamese food for take out.
Had a few dishes from here and they were not bad. Great take on northern style vietnamese food. I wish they made the portions a little bit bigger
Excellent and very tasty turmeric fish and authentic Vietnamese good from Hanoi
Not your typical Vietnamese restaurant. I think it's OK. The taste was not too strong (depending on your spice preferences, I prefer stronger spices!)The price is a wee bit high for the quality.
The food was great and tasted quite authentic. Small little place that's easily missed. Definitely would go back.
Ordered a $6 mango smoothie (size of a small McDonald's soft drink), and $7 6pcs Honey Butter Chicken Wings. Long wait times, and the flavor of the chicken wings were lacking flavor. They had a slight BBQ flavor, but needed some sweet, and vinager profiles to add some layer. Price was high in my opinion, and service was not very good.
Great Urbanized Pho restaurant. Very cozy and natural environment with lots of plants and greenery. Lots of options and choices, the pork meat and crab spring rolls are awesome here! Need to repeat many times to try all the options!
Heard so much about this place before going! Excellent service and ambience. Reasonably priced with big portions but the food is much too oily. I mostly enjoyed the food but the oiliness of the fish and curry began to get to me as I walked home. Can't hold a candle to the complex flavors, portion sizes and freshness of Do Chay.
Cozy place, nice ambience, decent price, yummy food and friendly staff.
Great food. Good service. Plentiful paid parking off street. Recommended.
Owner comes from the North of Vietnam so their taste is specialized from that part of the country. I got Chicken Noodle soup and it was awesome. That's the best Chicken Noodle Soup I had in all cities that I had visited. I will come back and try their other items if I am in BC
Pho was mediocre. The broth was over salted so took away from the taste, overwhelming the flavor of the broth.
This gem offers northern Vietnamese cuisine, which is rare in the lower mainland. Both stock is beef. I ordered two different soup noddle to try. The spicy one has thicker rice noodle. A bit different from vermicelli which is also made of rice. The clear broth has transitional rice noodle (pho). Both meat are pretty good. The sliced beef would really perfect the dish if it's a tad moist. But overall I would still order them again. Price tag on the soup noodle is $13. Pretty decent. Can't really find anything less $10 a dish these days. Services are great! Servers are attentive and courteous. Can't go wrong if you are into noodle in soup.
